The Center of Hope exists to walk alongside people, to bring spiritual and physical health, and ultimately change the community one life at a time. We recognize that the issues people face are often multi-layered and require holistic care. For people to thrive, they must be physically and spiritually healthy. That is why the ministries of the Center of Hope were shaped in a way that addresses the whole person. Our Pastoral Ministry offers free pastoral counseling to anyone who needs encouragement, guidance, and a friend. We offer this free service to point people to Jesus as the Lord and Savior of their lives and to help them to process their thoughts and emotions in healthy and productive ways. Our Care Center offers highly affordable clothing and free clothing for people in crisis through clothing provisions to keep people warm during the cold months. Our Bike Ministry promotes physical health while helping our guests get to and from work and school. Our Bike Ministry shop is available for guests to learn, grow, and be part of a healthy God-fearing community. Our Nursing program has educated our community for years on how to take care of one’s body and soul. All of the ministries of the Center of Hope, in one way or another, promote physical and spiritual well-being.
With all that said, we have exciting news! We are taking a huge step forward in our Health Ministry by starting an evening medical clinic for the uninsured. For years, the Destiny After Hours Clinic has blessed our community by addressing medical needs on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. We are excited to announce that the Center of Hope and Destiny After Hours Clinic have decided to merge and will continue as the Center of Hope Free Evening Clinic. The baton has been passed. The merger made sense for everyone involved because we both believe strongly that one’s physical and spiritual needs must be addressed to move struggling people forward. The clinic will be a major expansion of our Health Ministry.
So what will the Center of Hope Free Evening Clinic do?
The Center of Hope Free Evening Clinic is a free evening acute care
medical care clinic for the uninsured that requires no appointments. The clinic will provide general medical care for patients and is staffed by an MD, Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner, and a nurse. Some of the common things the clinic will see are ear and upper respiratory infections, influenza, urinary tract infection, hypertension, wounds, and stomach ailments. Follow-up appointments will be instructed as needed. On top of those services, there will be prayer team members present to pray over guests and give guests spiritual guidance. We will be open to the public on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6:00pm to 8:30pm. As we move forward with the clinic, we will continue to identify and implement new ways of caring for the physical and spiritual needs of our guests.
How can I help with the Center of Hope Free Evening Clinic?
There are three specific ways you can help us move for-ward in our clinic efforts.
First, you could volunteer! We are needing volunteer nurses, medical personnel, and prayer team members. You do not need to have a medical license to be on our prayer team! Prayer team members are at the clinic to assist, pray over, and spiritu-ally guide our guests as they come into the clinic. We would love to have you join our volunteer family!
Second, you could sup-port the clinic financially. The clinic will put finan-cial strain on the Center of Hope as a whole. However, we have faith that God will provide. All we have to do is remain faithful in our efforts to care for our community and leave the rest to God. We will be effective stewards of any financial gifts you send our way.
Third, you could pray for us. We do not ask for this lightly. As Mother Teresa said in her min-istry, each of us is a “little pencil in the hand of a writing God who is sending a love letter to the world.” Pray that we take ad-vantage of all opportunities to share the love of Jesus with our guests as they come in. Also, pray for our staff and volun-teers for ministry work is not easy emotionally.
Serve, Give, and Pray. These simple tasks will help us move our Health Ministry to the next level in the years to come. We are excited to live into our mission of walking alongside people to promote physical and spiritual health as we expand the reach of our ministry through the Center of Hope Free Evening Clinic. Your volunteer, financial, and prayer support is crucial-ly important. Let us love God and people together.
